Patient handover process and data transfer consent
On 30 October 2024, we informed our patients that all bestsmile locations will be closed by 31 January 2025.
Ongoing treatment will be carried out as usual at a bestsmile practice until the end of January 2025. If treatment has not been completed by the end of January 2025, it will then be provided by one of our partners.
We require your consent to ensure the seamless continuation of your ongoing treatment and to allow us to transfer your patient records in good time. Without your consent, your treatment cannot be continued by one of our partners from February 2025.
Which partners will continue the treatment of bestsmile patients? |
Patients currently undergoing treatment can continue with these procedures at one of our partner companies: zahnarztzentrum.ch (German-speaking Switzerland), Ardentis (French-speaking Switzerland) or VITA Dentistry (Ticino).
Due to the takeover of the Zürich Löwenstrasse and Zürich Hardstrasse (now OrthoDentica) practices by former bestsmile dentists, patients at these locations can continue their treatment with their previous dentist.
|
Do the same conditions and prices apply with the partners? |
The contractually agreed costs remain the same for ongoing treatments at zahnarztzentrum.ch, Ardentis, VITA Dentistry, Zürich Löwenstrasse, and Zürich Hardstrasse (now OrthoDentica).
Patients from bestsmile will not be charged any additional costs for the continuation of the agreed treatments.
|
Why do I have to submit a declaration of consent? |
As all partners are autonomous companies that operate independently of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives and bestsmile, in all five cases patient consent is required for legal reasons to enable patient records to be transferred. The patient records are essential to enable ongoing treatment to be continued. |
How do I provide consent? |
If you have an appointment at bestsmile before the end of January 2025, our employees at the practice will explain the procedure and help you to complete the online form and to make an appointment with one of our partners. If you don’t have an appointment at bestsmile before the end of January 2025, we will contact you by email in January 2025 to obtain your consent.
|
Which data will be transferred? |
By "patient records" we mean your medical history, the treatment plan, any images and a general overview of your contract with bestsmile. This data is used exclusively for your treatment.
|
What happens if I refuse to provide consent? |
If you decide not to provide consent, we will assume you are no longer interested in continuing your treatment with bestsmile or one of our partners and will terminate your contract with us.
If your treatment is completed before the end of January 2025, your data does not have to be transferred and consent will not be required.
|
How will my data be transferred to a partner in the event of a warranty claim? |
Consent is also required to process warranty claims at each of the five partners. This will be obtained when you make your claim with the partner concerned. The partners will be notified about such cases. |
Is the warranty still valid? |
The warranty remains valid. In the event of a warranty claim, patients can contact one of the five partners to validate their claim. |
